Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find the wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

Life Continues to Spring Forth As If Nothing Strange Is Happening

It turns out that I don't have to leave my property to find photo opps. Here's what's happening in my yard right now.

Daffy down dilly has come to town with a yellow petticoat and a green gown.

My yard is dotted with little white violets, like stars and constellations in a green sky. My mother always loved these little violets (how can a violet be white, anyway?) and we were never allowed to mow the lawn until they were finished blooming, sometime around or after Easter (coming right up).

My one and only lupine. I wish I had a field full of them, a la Miss Rumphius.

Some type of ground cover, given to me by my neighbor Sande. It blooms with red spiky flowers later in the summer. I do not know its name.
