Continuing my photo-blogging adventures, today I stayed close to home and took a walk over to Eel Pond while testing my new G7X Mk III, purchased for the mic jack. Why have only one G7 when you can have two? (The Mk II I will keep to use with the underwater housing set-up)
Glad to report that my simple set-up (G7, Joby GorillaPod, and Rode Wireless Go) worked well. Typically, for vlogging adventures, I am carrying a heavy backpack with two mirrorless bodies and a few lenses and a couple of tripods, so this was a treat.
The audio was fine (though I think the wind-screen may have cut out some of the ambient noises I wanted), but I was caught short by some focusing problems (why have anything come out perfectly with no technical issues - that would be boring) which were mostly my fault for not being more diligent about setting the focus point more accurately.
These vlogs are not meant to be tutorials (plenty of that stuff out there by people who know a ton more than I do), or trail guides, or gear talk, necessarily. These are mostly the wanderings of an end-of-life-Boomer amusing myself while learning new things; a multi-media version of my daily written diary: "A little chit-chat, some scenery, and hopefully a few photos at the end to show for my effort." The photography is the thing, really, and if anyone is entertained by my offerings, all the better; if not, that's fine, too.
The images you see here, and many more, may be seen and/or purchased in my gallery in Edgartown. Stop by for prints, cards, books, calendars, as well as the odd story, song, or fiddle tune. Contact me for hours and directions.
My 2022 calendar, "Sara's Vineyard," is in and is available by mail order or for local pick-up from my gallery.
