Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find the wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

The Derby
It's been many years since I've held a fishing pole in my hands, and don't think I ever joined the derby, but I did manage to wander downtown to the weigh-in station a couple of nights towards the end of this year's competition to partake of the festivities and document a few derby moments. Fun times! The derby obviously is as much about the camaraderie as it is about the fishing. I enjoyed taking in a little night air and breaking out of my box a bit; fun, also, to see the waterfront area full of locals.

as an occasional "tourist" to the island, I love seeing it from a local's perspective.
