Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find the wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

Venus, Jupiter, and the Moon
Venus and Jupiter were in very close conjunction this past week, and last night - a rare, clear Vineyard night - I was able to grab a shot of this celestial event. I thought I'd have to drive somewhere exotic (South Beach? Bend in the Road?) for a good view, so threw the tripod in the car and headed out. I got to the end of Green Avenue, though, and there they were, twinkling away, directly above Oliver Street (I boast a bit about not having to drive anywhere to do or see anything - everything I want or need is within walking or biking distance from home - so this worked out to my liking).
