Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find the wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

Sara

A few self-portraits. Playing with lights and a new black background. Minimal processing; a little softening and sharpening. How strange to be zoomed in on one's own face for a length of time. And how tempting to try and make myself look fourteen again. Nah - I rather like (most of) the wrinkles and bumps. I earned them.

  1. Sarah these are beautiful - I like them all - but especially the first and third ones.

  2. Jessica - thank you - so nice of you to stop by and leave a comment, and even follow. Do you ever get back to the island? After 10 years of commuting between Edg and Brookline, am moving back to the Main Street house full time. Renovating, filling it with music and photographs and people. Loving it. Stop by when you're in town :-)

  3. These are great. I was visiting last summer and passed a house on Main St while on a bike ride with my daughter. There were a group of folks playing bluegrass music on the front porch of a house on upper Main...could it have been your house? My father is Tim...says he remembers you from when he was a busboy at the yacht club some time ago. Love your blog, love your pictures...makes me want to visit again very much.

  4. Matt - I remember Tim, of course, and your uncle Teddy, and of course I know all the Morgans. Good to hear from you. Yes, we were playing Irish traditional music on my porch. We do this a couple of times a week all summer long and we have a blast. Next time you're in town, stop by.
