Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

Norton Point Breach

Katama Bay
I had a hankering to walk down to the opening at Norton Point, to the breach that burst open a couple of years ago down harbor, causing Chappy to be a true island again, and causing the tides to boil on through Edgartown Harbor, just as they did when I was a kid.

The breach has migrated eastward over the past couple of years, so it was a farther walk last week than it was when I first had the idea, back when it was brand new.

Nevertheless, my friend Fran and I handled it with aplomb - yep, we still "got it."

It was a gorgeous evening - my favorite time of day to walk; a bit cool and windy, but the hike over the sand warmed us up in no time.
