Welcome. Edgartown News was born from the simple fact that I have ink and Dektol in my veins and I need to write and photograph more than I need air or food, and from my love for this little town where I grew up and raised my family, the town I have left a few times but can't quite shake for good. Here you will find the wanderings and musings, photographs and commentary; the people, places, and happenings - past and present - of a small island town: my home town.

Edgartown Library Concerts

Did you know that our library offers Tuesday evening concerts on its front lawn, under the pagoda tree?

I think I knew, but forgot, about these concerts, but was reminded last night on my walk down to the lighthouse for a family photo shoot when I came upon Joe Keenan performing to a pretty full lawn - a delightful scene for a summer's evening, and I certainly would have stayed to listen had I not another engagement. Joe has been around for a while, and is pretty well known in the Irish trad scene (here and here are a couple more pics of Joe, performing in a recent Paddy Keenan concert in VH).

Joe sings a hauntingly beautiful song, a capella,  about an Aquinnah girl.

  1. And we've been doing it for two years now! Next week is the Flying Elbows Fiddle Band. All are welcome. BTW, that was Grammy-winning guitarist John Cruz playing with Joe last night.
